Barbara Kasten

Barbara Kasten is a artist with roots in many different medium. She is well known for constructing beautiful compositions and photographing them to make dream like landscapes, interesting textures, and beautiful forms.

From what I can see it seems she mostly uses a combination of glass and mirrors for her constructions and then pairs the forms with dynamic lighting to create her images.

Evolution of Type

Andreas Scheiger is a graphic designer who is based in Vienna. He works mostly with experimental type, letter sculpting, and vintage information rendering.  


A project of his I find particularly interesting is his works Evolution of Type.

Evolution of type is inspired by "The Alphabet and Elements of Lettering" (1918) by Frederic William Goudy, one of the most famous type designers. Each piece is strange, creepy, and beautiful.

Fishscape

The coolest fish bowl I have ever seen. I have a beta named Gregory that I spoil (I know its sad) and if I had 140 bucks to blow on him I would love to get this for him.

The Bowl is designed by aruliden and has won the 2011 Red Dot Design Award. Their website says that each bowl is hand made and unique.

Book Covers

Some book covers I made for a class of mine. The assignment was to choose three books to make covers for. I decided to choose three of my favorite war novels and try and bring a some class into them. 

Usually war novels have huge screaming red type with fire and airplanes and guns and man stuff and no space left for anything to breath! Ugg. I came into this project with the intent to keep things light but not to loose the feel of the book.

I chose the books White Night by William H. Lovejoy, The War in 2020 by Ralph Peters, and Pillars of Fire by Steve Shagan.

I ended up with two covers for Pillars of fire because about half the people I ask which do you prefer choose one and the rest choose the other. 

Futura Backpack!!!!

The Medium Control ih now one of my favorite design companies. They are a design company located in Duluth MN. They do contract graphic design work and manage Medium Control stores where they sell cool shirts, decals, and BACKPACKS!

I am now the proud owner of a "This is the Futura" backpack.
